2018 Polar Bear Plunge

2018 Super Plungers

The Super Plunge started in 2004 as an effort to increase the funds being raised for the MSP Polar Bear Plunge. The first Super Plunge team had only three members who plunged not once, but 24 times in a 24-hour period to show those sitting at home that they could come out to the park and Plunge at least once. The team strived to show others that they could push the limit to symbolize the obstacles that the athletes of Special Olympics face every day.

The event has evolved over the years to the Super Plunge Team, with 40 or more members each year raising a minimum of $10,000 each.

The 2018 Super Plunge will be held on Friday, January 19th-Saturday, January 20th - one week earlier than the Polar Bear Plunge. Going back to our roots, we're hoping that by showing those at home that we can plunge 24 times in 24 hours, we'll encourage other brave souls to come out on January 26th and Plunge with the rest of Maryland!
